Although most car companies have revamped design ideas for their newer cars, transitioning from opulent to ergonomic, eco-friendly exteriors, auto thieves still remain on the prowl for the “blinged-out” cars of yesteryear. The annual car theft report printed by USA Today collects three years of theft data, covering car models from 2007 to 2009, and determines theft rankings through theft claims paid out for every thousand vehicles insured; the resulting figures are calculated based on theft rates for each model and the average amount of insurance paid out for each theft.
