If the trucks and large gas guzzling vehicles was popular early this decade the case is not the same in 2010.

Today the automobile industry statistics are showing that the new customers are looking much more from the car. Today new car buyers are choosing cars with more efficient engines and cars which are more environments friendly. Also today new car buyers are considering buying a hybrid vehicles and fuel cells vehicles.

During the last decade the trend of buying a large car or truck is slowly fading away. Instead of buying a large vehicle, today customers are considering a brand more than ever. The luxury is not enough. The brand and the automaker company logo is also a prestige.

The other important fact is how the new purchased car is losing value during the years. The new car buyer is not thinking only how to purchase a new car but also what that car is going to be worth after 5 or 7 years from now.

If you like to negotiate the price for you new car you need to know what dealers pay for new automobiles.

In case you like to negotiate you need to know that MSRP or Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price means nothing. MRSP is a price on the sticker and usually is formed so the prices can not wary so much in the different dealerships across the country. It is just a price which is determined by the manufacturer as the “fair” price for the new car. But what is fair from their point of view is not the same of what is fair from your point of view. So forget this MRSP deal and go for the real issue.

It is very hard to make the auto dealer to show you the real factory invoice. But during the negotiation, depends of your negotiation tactics you can ask him or he can offer you to show this closely guarded document. The invoice is a copy of the actual document with the automaker logo on the top of the document and the dealer’s address for delivery. Don’t confuse the invoice with MSRP or other blank printed documents which can be produced on the any office printer.

The factory invoice can show information for the car (base model), additional equipment (or the optional package), floor mats, body trims, transport costs, holdback, and dealer flooring assistance and so on…

For you the most important info is the holdback sum and dealer flooring assistance sum. All other fees are nonnegotiable and we pay them to the dealer and dealer pays them to the factory. The holdback and dealer flooring assistance will be paid to the dealer by the factory after he sold the car, because the automaker or the factory is calculating this sum so the dealers can make some net profit and pay for their expenses like rent, salary, utilities bills and etc… Dealers just love to double their earnings and charge you twice. They earn from the holdback and dealer flooring assistance and they also earn from the MRSP or any sum which will place above the actual factory invoice. Everything above the actual factory invoice is a profit.

Very often when the new cars are not leaving the dealership fast enough the dealers will show you the “factory invoice” and offer $1 over the price in the document. If you believe that this is the real factory invoice than you need to know that in this document there are hidden factory incentives which are going directly to the dealer. If they do that, then they will make the money on the deal and if you are hard negotiator you can go well below their offer.

So before you go to buy your next new car, try to understand how the new car business works. How much you know will determine the price of your new car.

We are witnessing the emerging of the new generation of cars.
The new Hyundai i-flow is a powerful car concept with an imaginative and magic exterior, wise engineering under the hood and in the unbelievable beautiful car interior.

At the 2010 Geneva motor show debut, Hyundai i-flow gets the silence and wonder from the present press and spectators.

New Hyundai i-flow is a technological wonder with an animal shape. The car is standing still but the spectator had a feeling that the i-flow will jump ahead in any moment. It is like a big predator ready to wake up and jump on his pray.

The interior of Hyundai i-flow is like a space ship. During the development a help from the BASF which is one of the leading automotive suppliers and expert in new space edge materials.

New Hyundai i-flow is a diesel electric hybrid with a fuel consumption of only 3 liters per 100 kilometers. If we have in mind that i-flow is a car with an overall length of 4.78 meters and 2.8 meters of wheel base this result is amazing. With i-flow, Hyundai is bringing a new quality and set up a new hard to reach standards in the European D-segment. The width of the car is 1.85 meters and height is 1.42 meters.

The engine of this sporty sedan is a diesel electric hybrid. The U2 1.7 liter oil burner is packed with two stage turbocharger and Hyundai lithium ion-polymer battery. Transmission is a dual-clutch with 6 speed gear. The CO2 output is only 85g/km and the fuel consumption is 1 liter on 33.3 km.

My overall impression is that Hyundai just made a quantum leap in the automotive technology. The competition will need to work hard night and day to get near where Hyundai is now. We do not need to be automotive experts or prophets to see the new bright future for the Hyundai Motor Corporation. The whole article seams to be completely purposeless because the Hyundai i-flow photos say all.

This season Lada logo is going to be on the Renault F1 cars.
Renault team is strengthened with a Vitaly Petrov which is the first ever Russian driver in Formula 1. He will be a partner to the Polish driver Robert Kubica.

Russian company Avto VAZ owns Lada and Renault have 25% ownership in Avto VAZ. This decision will make Renault more popular in Russia and for the same reason the Russian driver was brought to the French Formula 1 team.

Lada is well known in Russia and the former Soviet Union as an automaker for cars and terrain vehicles, but it was exported in many countries through the whole world. The jewel in the Lada stable was and still is Lada Niva, a small and affordable terrain vehicle which off-road capabilities are still not surpassed by any of the off road vehicles in the world. Lada Niva design is 20 year old with minor cosmetics changes on the exterior and interior of the car.

The most reported problems with Audi A4 are:

1. Problems with a coolant system and evaporation system. This occurs in the reservoir and also might have problems with floaters. If you have this problem you might be asked to fix those two problems but also the floaters. After all this, the problem might not be solved and the replacement of the whole reservoir will be required. If you have this kind of problem you need to approach very carefully to the whole problem because all repairs can go up to $3000. 2. Audi A4 problem with Ignition Coil Problems occurs when the cars is shaking and feel hard without any reason. Audi a4 have 4 ignition coils and one coil can cost $40. If the engine does not start it is also a sign that there are ignition coil problem. The parts can be cheap but the labour can consume up to $500.

3. Problems with chrome parts. Chrome is a material which naturally oxidizes and it looks bad. This is even worse if the chrome parts are placed on the car for the aesthetic reasons like a chrome window trim. These small problems are not cowered with the guarantee.

4. Lights problems. A replacement of the light bulb was frequently reported by many owners after only 35 thousand miles.

I made some small research about the new Coda full electric car and I do not like it at all.

First of all Coda is one boring car. The design is like 15 years old and the front is looking like Yugoslavian and Italians joined to make a small affordable car, but not in 21 century, but right after the WW2. And Yugoslavians are in charge for the design! The rear end is looking like the first model of Hyundai Accent (which is a good car for the money).

Second but not less important is that Coda full electric car is going to be made in China with a USA government help?! In the time when the domestic automotive industry is badly hit by recession, greed and incompetence, the USA government is helping China automotive industry with a couple of hundreds millions of $ to hit American market! One of the most important electric car parts – the battery system is going to be build by Lishen Battery Co. (the world’s largest manufacturers of lithium-ion cells) located in Tianjin, China. Lishen Battery Co. already makes lithium ion batteries for American companies like Apple, Motorola, but also for Samsung and Vodafone.

Third, Coda full electric car have less than impressive technical characteristics. The range with a full charge is going to be 90 to 100 miles (read: 80 miles). For the full charge Coda will need 6 hours on the 220V AC. For the charge on 110V the time will be much longer. Coda full electric car will be powered by 33.8 kwh electric motor which is weak and the car speed will be electronically limited to 80 mph. Coda electric car will accelerate from 0 to 80 mph for 11 seconds.

Fourth, Coda full electric car will be expensive and the price tag is 45,000 US dollars. The government AGAIN will give away $15,000 so the possible customers will need to pay $30,000.

Personally I am not very impressed by Coda full electric car. For less money I can buy Toyota Prius or Honda Insight. With these cars I will not need a second car for some more demanding transportation needs like going to visit my grandfather who is living 120 miles from my place. With Coda full electric car after 90 miles I will need to find some motel to sleep over, while Coda is recharging the batteries.

Coda full electric car can be a fine delivery vehicle or taxi intercity car, or even a company car for driving around the city. For a family man like me, with a serious transportation needs it is not in my sight for the next car shopping.

Medic bag – a new trend in traffic safety

I believe that only few of us ever think about those few moments when our life or the life of your closest can be in danger.

Few days ago I was cleaning my car and I noticed my small medical box tossed in my car trunk. This auto first aid kit is so small that I ask myself: In the case of the auto accident can this and the items inside safe my life and the life of my closest family members? What about the other people which will be hurt in the accident? I was thinking a few moments for this and I decided to call my closest friend who is also a doctor.

I address this issue and mu suspicions about the effectiveness of the small auto medic kit and he completely agree with me. He also told me that he have a large medic bag in his home, and a medic bag in both of his cars. In his house he have old style military medic bag with a few hundred items inside. For the both cars he bought similar medic bags which have a 5-6 times more room than in a regular medic car box.

He gave me some tips where to buy a medic bag and the next week we are going together so he can choose all I need and what I need to have in my medic bag.
I assume I am going to spend a few hundred dollars but probably I will feel better when I am going to seat behind the steering wheel again knowing that my medic bag is in my trunk instead of small first aid kit.

Take the damaged chrome rim to the nearest service station and they will repair for you. If the damage on the chrome rim is too severe you will need a replacement for the damaged chrome rim.

The Smart Forfour was a relatively unsuccessful hatchback for 4 people and was produced only 2 years between 2004 and 2006.

The Smart ForFour was marketed and sold by Smart and it was produced by Ned Car with a big help from Mitsubishi Motors. The production took place in Netherlands. In order to cut the costs Smart ForFour shared the platform and most of the components with 2003 popular Mitsubishi Motors model Colt. If we number all components including chasis, suspension and MIVEC petrol engine there was not much difference from the Mitsubishi Colt 2003. Actually the Smart ForFour 2004 was nothing more than repainted and restyled Mitsubishi Colt 2003. For this small difference the owners of the Smart ForFour was paying between 30 to 50% bigger price than the owners of the other models in the same segment.

The Smart ForFour had a place for 4/5 passengers and modern petrol engines with three cylinders and 1.1l, 1.3l and 1.5 liters. The 1,5 liters engine had 107hp (80kW). Smart ForFour also was available with a diesel cdi (common direct injection) engine with 67 hp (50kW) and 94hp (70kW).

It was the nice car, but dye to the high price it did not impact the marked as were planned.

But all that is behind the Smart company because now they have a plan for a 2013 Smart ForFour.

Smart and the parent Daimler AG are planing a four door hatchback with a room for five people. This model will be offered as Smart ForFour, but also as ForTwo+2. The new vehicle is expected to be promoted in 2013 which means that on the USA market will be available in 2014. The company is also considering a three passenger Smart Roadster.

A hydrogen vehicle is a vehicle which is using hydrogen as the fuel as the source of power. Hydrogen is not a new fuel. It is known a long time ago and it is used in the rocket technology. Between two world wars, because it is lighter than air, it was used for the airships, balloons and zeppelins.

The ideas for the hydrogen as a fuel for the personal car are not older than few decades. The basic idea is a converting of the stored hydrogen chemical energy to mechanical energy by reacting with oxygen in the fuel cell and making electricity, or simple burning the hydrogen in the combustion engine.

Some scientists are even proposing a new economy based on the hydrogen power. The name for this new economy is hydrogen economy. There are ways of making hydrogen without using fossil fuels which mean that hydrogen powered economy will not pollute our environment with carbon dioxide.

In our opinion there are some problems for the hydrogen economy and for the hydrogen propelled cars. Hydrogen is a high flammable gas which needs a special (read: expensive) storage facilities, gas tanks and refilling stations. This means that besides every gasoline and diesel station there will be need for the new hydrogen station. This will make the new hydrogen economy very expensive at the start because this entire infrastructure is an enormous investment in the infrastructure. Some authorities in this field are even speaking about another big corporation game for more profits without solving the real problems.

Another problem is the low energy content of the hydrogen. Some contemporary cars which are using hydrogen for a fuel have autonomy of only a hundred of miles, but other prototypes had autonomy of more than 300 miles.

Today there is no global car producer which is not having research and development facilities for the hydrogen fuel cells.

The GM is not only a fuel cell researcher and producer but they are developing the completely new approach to the hydrogen powered vehicle. Their concept of the hydrogen vehicle is now a decade old and they are rolling hundreds of prototypes which are now on the roads in use of the massive research and test program. The draw backs for GM are that the fuel cell is still expensive for manufacturing and there are no refuelling stations for the hydrogen.

Tata Motors in their European Research Centre is currently producing buses and light trucks with fuel cells and the test runs are on the way.
Toyota has a plan to have more than 100 fuel cell vehicles on the road by 2012 and Honda is not only producing a hydrogen cars but also have a working prototype for the hydrogen refuelling station.

The hydrogen station is equipped with solar panels which are producing electric power which is used to split the water to hydrogen and oxygen. Then the hydrogen is stored until the hydrogen powered vehicle needs it. The prototype of this station in this phase of development is producing 500 ml of hydrogen. With this quantity, hydrogen car can satisfy the daily needs of the common commuter in USA.

Basically, Valve Regulated Lead Acid Battery or VRLA is one of the many types of the basic Lead Acid batteries. The other name of the VRLA batteries is Maintenance Free or MF batteries. This name is due to the fact that VRLA batteries do not need regular checking. Checking of the electrolyte level of the lead acid batteries is one of the few basic operations with which any new driver is introduced. Valve Regulated Lead Acid Batteries – VRLA does not need this check because hydrogen and oxygen in the cells are producing water which remains in the VRLA battery.

The term Maintenance Free or MF batteries needs to be understood with a caution. Some of the electrolyte can be lost and the VRLA battery can dry out and lose power. To prevent this, regular check need to be done by measuring conductance, impedance and internal resistance. In the case of irregularity of those values, a maintenance procedure known as rehydration is needed, because in this case there are some dry out of the VRLA battery.

VRLA batteries are popular with motorcycles because they can not leak and are more resistant to the higher levels of vibrations than regular Lead Acid batteries.

A few years ago the news about the alliance between French Renault and Romanian national car producer Dacia was received with much suspicion. But today, even the most rigid automotive experts are commenting that all suspicions were without any vision.

In the beginning of the cooperation, the excellent combination of the western (Renault) technology and the low cost man power from Romania show that success will be guaranteed. The first vehicles rolled out of the assembly line helped the Romanian car owners to replace a few decades old vehicles with a new model. Soon the cars with a Dacia sign on them find their way from the home country to the markets of the East Europe. The consumers from the east Europe and Balkan countries, hungry for the new cars, but with short pockets were the first owners of the new Dacia cars.

And then Dacia strikes the very hart of Europe. Anew Dacia Logan with a price of 7.000 euro soon becomes the bestseller. The European car producers were in shock and Renault/Dacia executives and stock holders were celebrating the success.

The blitzkrieg on the European auto market was continued with Dacia Sandero. The new model Dacia Sandero was nothing more than hatchback version of Dacia Logan, but the modern design and few other changes was just the cherry on the top. The sales of Dacia continued to grow.
The newest model which is rolling out of the Mioveni factory in Pitesti is Dacia Sandero Stepway. Dacia Sandero Stepway is the name for the European model which is produced in Brazil under the Renault logo.

Dacia Sandero Stepway is 402.4 cm long, 199.7 cm in width and 158.2 cm in height. The new Stepway have a space for five passengers and 320 litters of trunk space.
The ground clearance is 20 mm higher than Dacia Sandero making 175 mm. The new owner of Stepway crossover will have to choose only three metallic colours: Platin Gray, Gray Comet and Red Fire. Besides the colours he design will be improved with 15 inch aluminium rims, chrome exhaust tailpipe, black headlights mask and chrome grille trim.

Engines: Gas engine – 1.6 litres, 90 HP with a mixed consumption of 7.6 liters/100 km. Diesel option has an 1.5 dCi engine with 70 HP with a mixed consumption of 5.3 liters/100 km. The total CO2 emissions in the case of diesel are not exceeding 140 g/km which will place Stepway in the Euro 2 eco standards.

The price of the new Dacia Sandero Stepway will be 9200 euro for the model with a petrol engine and 10400 euro for the model with a diesel price.
Warranty: 3 years or 100.000 kilometres.

GEM means Global Electric Motors. It is also known as Chrysler electric car or a Daimler electric car or electric GEM car, it all amounts to the same thing. Global Electric Motors is own by Daimler Chrysler.
Although looks like a golf club cart, electric GEM cars are far away from that. This mean that you can not break a girl’s heart with electric GEM car, but you can drive and transport you and your family on pennies.

The cost for the basic model is $7,000 and depends on the additional equipment it can go as high as $13,000. Beside the cheapest two seat model, electric GEM car is coming with four seats and six seats. There are also models with a trunk or dedicated rear space with additional capacity for a limited commercial use. GEM electric car has three point safety belts and windshield is made from laminated safety glass.

Charge time for the electric GEM cars is six to eight hours. For charging the owner of the GEM electric cars needs only a regular 110V wall socket. In the last few years (since 2007), optionally the prospective owners can buy their GEM electric car with an optional fast charger which can be installed at home or wherever is needed. With the fast charger the full charge can be achieved within hour.

The range of GEM electric car with a full charge is up to 40 miles but on the less than perfect roads (that mean your neighbourhood and surrounding) the range is likely 30 miles per charge.
The low tech batteries which you are using to start your car are used in the electric GEM cars and can be charged with the regenerative braking. Batteries are twelve volt lead acid batteries and six of them are used for the electric GEM car – 72 volt battery system. Operating costs for electric GEM cars are only few cents per mile.

Electric GEM car can be used on the public roads posted at 35 mph (56 km/h).
Electric gem cars can be a passenger vehicles and utility vehicle versions.
There are three models of the passenger vehicles: GEM e2 NEV — A two-passenger vehicle, GEM e4 NEV — A four-passenger vehicle, GEM e6 NEV — A six-passenger vehicle.

The utility vehicles versions are: GEM eS NEV — A two-seater with 39″ x 48″ flat bed with and a 330 pound cargo capacity, GEM eL NEV — A two-seater with a 70″ x 48″ flat bed with and a 700 pound cargo capacity and GEM eL XD NEV— An heavier duty version of the GEM eL with a 70″ x 48″ flat bed with and a 1,100 pound cargo capacity.
Nowadays electric GEM car is used for an intra city transport means, but also by local, state and national government agencies, military bases, resorts, master-planned communities, university campuses, medical and corporate waste space compounds, as well as by sports teams, taxi-shuttle services and individual consumers.

LHD cars – Left Hand Drive Cars

The term LHD cars, Left Hand Drive Cars or just a Left Hand Drive is used only in the handful of countries, which are using the cars with a steering wheel on the right side.
In the dealerships for the new or used LHD cars in the UK, Australia, Japan and a couple of more countries where the use of the Right Hand Drive Cars is common, the term LHD is used to mark the cars which have a steering wheel on the left side.

It is unusual for the people in the countries where the left hand drive is usual and normal, to apprehend and understand why this term exist at all and why is used, but in the above mentioned countries it is regular and normal to mark the left hand cars with the term LHD.

Almost all car producers in the process of planing and constructing the new car models are usually planning all cars as LHD cars. After the launching of the production of the LHD cars, they are making a minor adjustment in the steering system and cockpit of the car to produce RHD cars. Only few United Kingdom car models are planned as the right hand drive cars and then adjustments are made for the production of the same models as the LHD or left hand drive cars.

Peugeot iOn Concept – info and price….
Peugeot is for a long time on the electric cars market. With Peugeot 106 which was made from 1995 to 2003, Peugeot is not only the pioneer in electric vehicles, but to this days it is remains the manufacturer which sold the most “zero-emissions” cars in the world.

Now Peugeot will attack the electric car market with his new concept Peugeot iOn. Actually Peugeot iOn is Mitsubishi iMiEV under the lion brand.
Peugeot iOn can travel 130 km on the single charge and the new lithium ion batteries can be charged for only 30 minutes. For this time in the rapid charge mode the batteries can be charged up to 80%, and for 100% charge in normal charging mode 6 hours will be needed. With this battery performance Peugeot is pushing new border in the electric cars technology. The maximum speed of the new Peugeot iOn will be 130km/h which is more than excellent for the vehicle which will be used mainly in the urban environment.

Peugeot iOn is 100% electric vehicle and it not be mixed with a hybrid cars like Toyota Prius and Honda Insight which main source of power is the gasoline motor and the electric motor is for the assistance when greater power is needed.

Peugeot iOn is a four door mini mono volume car with a length of 3,48m. The maximum power is 64 hp (47kW). Torque is 180Nm. Turning circle is 4,50m.
After some thinking about Peugeot iOn, we find out that this vehicle will be excellent for the taxi service, primary in the cities with a high traffic jams and high pollution. This small lion will easily find his way and in the same time not single gram of CO2 will be emitted in the city environment.

Although Peugeot iOn is marketed as the new vehicle it is actually very similar to Mitsubishi iMiEV. Peugeot and Mitsubishi have a long time relationship. The collaboration on Peugeot 4007 (read: re skinned Mitsubishi Outlander) was so good that in Peugeot was decided to have the same with Mitsubishi iMiEV. So now the Europeans have new full electric vehicle Peugeot iOn.
Our wild guess is that the price of the new Peugeot iOn will be near 30.000 euro, but with some government incentives it can drop under 25.000 euro.

All present were commenting that this audition was the best audition ever watched in their life. Michael Bay filmed her while she was washing his Ferrari, but the footage is not available to the public yet. The video in which Megan Fox is washing Michael Bay Ferrari is probably still in his private collection. I assume that his video will be released as the marketing gimmick in the future.

The movie Transformers was all about the cars and Robots, but many people went to watch this movie just to see the new hot actress bending over the hood. The happiest people were the fathers which had a task to take the kids in the movie theatre to watch the new Transformers. After watching with the kids many fathers went again alone…

Megan Fox now is riding around in the brand new Mercedes G-Wagon SUV and she is far away from the first time when at 16 she was playing one of the club girls in Bad Boy II for which she was paid just $600. Megan Fox on e-bay also bought an old 1966 Mustang Fastback for her boyfriend Brian Austin Green.

New car is already emerging from Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. Stuttgart based company has developed new top-of-the-line sports car for the buyers who want only the best possible in terms of power, handling, dynamics and luxury in perfect combination. All these characteristics are packaged in on sexy car called Porsche 911 Turbo S.

The powerplant propelling this beauty is a six-cylinder boxer enhanced with two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, with an increase in power over standard 911 Turbo by 30 to 530 bhp (390 KW). Maximum torque is an astonishing 700 Newton-metres (516 lb-ft). All optional components from the regular 911 Turbo now come as a standard in this model.

You would expect that Porsche 911 Turbo S is very thirsty, but you are wrong. It averages just 11.5 litres/100 kilometres(equal to 24.8 mpg imp), the same as the regular 911 Turbo, leaving you with a smile on a gas station thanks to its efficiency for this kind of superpowered sports car.

The 911 Turbo S comes exclusively with seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) (Porsche’s Double-Clutch Gearbox) conveying drive power to Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive. All the latest safety functions are present and assurring the driver that the ride will be as smooth as possible.

In conjunction with Launch Control on the Sport Chrono Package Turbo this baby accelerates to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds and to 200 km/h it needs 5.8 more, totalling 10.8 seconds. You’ll feel like you are enjoying in the cockpit of an F-15.

Top speed is 315 km/h or 195 mph and the stopping power is equally impressive, enough to stop it to standstill in just over 34 meters.
The sale is expected to begin in May 2010. German prices are around 173 000 Euros including VAT for the 911 Turbo S Coupe and 184 00 Euros for the Cabriolet version.
