The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is a thing of rare beauty and is being hailed as the most powerful street-legal Porsche to date.  Its sleek, low-slung design whispers of speed even when it’s standing still and its performance in recent track tests is nothing to sneeze at, thanks to their reliance on Porsche Intelligent Performance (their goal, to surpass the last best model).  And the moniker “widowmaker” seems apt, as any man who is willing to spend a quarter of a million dollars (estimated) to own this rare vehicle is bound to leave his lady love in the dust.

So, on to the particulars.  Keeping in mind the hefty price tag and the fact that only 500 of these limited-edition beauties are slated for release, here’s what you’ll get if you’re lucky enough to lay your hands on one: the main draw is a reworking of the twin-turbocharged, 3.6-litre, flat-six engine from the previous GT2 model.  This is not their newest engine (they also have a 3.8-litre), but then again, the GT2 RS weighs 70kg less than its predecessor (due to an array of lightweight features from seats to door panels), offering greater speed from an engine that may be all too similar.  And with a whopping boost of 90 horsepower over the last iteration (bringing it up to a remarkable 620 hp), you’re going to practically fly when you put the pedal to the metal.  And the proof is in the pudding.

Track testing at Germany’s Nurburgring circuit reportedly produced a new record time of 7 minutes, 18 seconds, beating out Nissan’s GT-R by an astonishing 8.7 seconds (which, funny enough, had beaten the record held by the previous GT2).  And in standing sprints, the GT2 RS has been clocked as going from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour is just 3.5 seconds.  Bazinga!  With a top speed of 332 km/h, this Porsche can get a few very lucky drivers in touch with their inner speed demon (and the unlucky in touch with local law enforcement).  As if anyone would wish to stop this splendid vehicle, they have also outfitted it with PCCB composite ceramic brakes for extreme stoppage.

As for killer looks, Porsche delivers with carbon-fiber-reinforced components in a matte black finish and optional two-tone interior and exterior styling (the red-on-black is deliciously sinister).  Notable extras include upgraded front and rear spoilers, flared wheel arches, and apparently, some cool decals.  Let’s be honest, it’s not the extras that are going to make or break this car.  It’s gorgeous and fast and it’s called the widowmaker!  Absolutely everything about this car begs you to listen to the devil on your shoulder, so if you get the chance, go for it.

110 years Ferdinand Porsche managed to build the first car in the world propelled by the hybrid technology, Porsche used the glow of the 2010th edition of New York Auto Show to show us they are still in the game.

New car is already emerging from Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. In conjunction with Launch Control on the Sport Chrono Package Turbo this baby accelerates to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds and to 200 km/h it needs 5.8 more, totalling 10.8 seconds. You’ll feel like you are enjoying in the cockpit of an F-15.

Top speed is 315 km/h or 195 mph and the stopping power is equally impressive, enough to stop it to standstill in just over 34 meters.
The sale is expected to begin in May 2010. German prices are around 173 000 Euros including VAT for the 911 Turbo S Coupe and 184 00 Euros for the Cabriolet version.

To improve already excellent road and track performance, for the first time PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) suspension is used and set up with special parameter set. The track is wider on both axles. The front axle comes with nine-inch-wide wheels running on 245/35 ZR 19 sports tires, the rear axle features twelve-inch-wide wheels incorporating 325/30 ZR 19
sports tires.

The dynamic engine mounts used as standard in 911 GT3 RS has a role of improving car’s dynamics to even higher level and it seems this is the limit when it comes to road performance and agility. Depending on the driving and road conditions, the mounts change their stiffness and damping effect, improving the connection between the engine and the body of the car when driving in extreme conditions. Downforce is greater, further improving race track performance. Lithium-ion battery will be an option as a replacement for a standard accumulator battery, reducing the weight for another 10kg or 22lb.

It is clear that this model is for drivers with lots of experience in daily driving and modest race track background. Its roots in motorsports are clear and further accented with details like: low ride height, the newly developed huge rear carbon-fiber wing with some parts made of aluminum, powerful and shiny dual tailpipes on the exhaust from the extra light and durable titanium, as well as numerous exterior details specially designed and tailored for the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Sales are starting in Germany with the start of 2010. The European base price will be Euro 122.400 without taxes and other expenses.

In a celebrating and wonderful atmosphere, Porsche Automobil Holding SE, Stuttgart, and Qatar Holding LLC (QH), signed an agreement, marking the entry of the Emirate of Watar in the Porsche SE family. This afternoon, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche SE, Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, welcomed high ranked delegation from Qatar consisted of Prime Minister of the Emirate, Sheik Hamad ibn Jassim ibn Jabir Al-Thani, to the historical Porsche Villa located on Killesberg Hill outside of Stuttgart.

Before the eyes of the Minister President of Baden-Württemberg, Günther Oettinger, the two men confirmed and signed two contracts. The first agreement was signed by the Prime Minister of Qatar and is purchase agreement, with the help of which, Qatar will get 10 percent of the ordinary shares of Porsche SE. Dr. Wolfgang Porsche and Hans Michel Piëch also signed the agreement from the German side. The second agreement which provides for the takeover by the Emirate of a major share in the cash settled options relating to Volkswagen shares, was signed by Ahmad Al Sayed, CEO of Qatar Holding, and Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, Michael Macht, as well as his Deputy Chairman, Thomas Edig, who are both members of the Executive Board of Porsche SE.

German side, presented by the Dr. Wolfgang Porsche gave the Qatar delegation a warm welcome as a new member of the Porsche shareholder family and they said that this day is already historical for both sides. Maybe this is because for the first time in the history of the company, part of ordinary Porsche shares are in hand of external investors. To this day, the all shares belonged to the family members of Porsche and Piech.

Sheik Hamad ibn Jassim ibn Jabir Al-Thani emphasized that Qatar considers itself a strategic investor who has great interest in the long-term positive development of Porsche. “Porsche ranks among the most valuable automobile brands in the world. We are proud to be a part of this sports car manufacturer and its rich tradition and history. Through our trust-based collaboration with the family shareholders, we will help ensure that the success story of Porsche, and, in the future, of Volkswagen continues to be written,” explained the Prime Minister.

Porsche slowly teases the public in the last year releasing half-disguised photos of the new Porsche Panamera tested in various climate and road conditions. The official premiere was at the 13^th Auto Shangai. Some more details are known today.

Panamera is by all means a luxury car, no matter which model and package chosen. The starting prices in the US, as the main market at which this model is destined, will be around $90k and actually sounds better than before a few months when there was a rumor of a much higher prices.

Exterior styling is loved by some, some others are intrigued by the cars’ curves and shapes, but on a first glimpse, it is a typical Porsche.  The interior is gorgeous, with a lots of high-tech gadgets and devices, expensive leather and comfortable seats that can be moved and configured in all directions. It is especially wide sedan, even wider than a huge Mercedes S-Class. The interior space is more than enough for a luxury travel of four passengers, only because there is a wide middle tunnel that is not allowing for the fifth person to enjoy the ride.

As a starting point of motorization, 3.6-liter, six-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower will be available. The middle option “S” will be 400 hp 4.8-liter V8 and the turbo model will offer around 500 horses. The prices in the US will be as follows: The Panamera S starts with $89, 000, while 4-wheel version 4S will be a few thousand more. The Turbo will cost as much as $132,000.

Talking about the performance Panamera S goes from 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds with a maximum velocity of over 175 mph (280 km/h). The all-wheel Panamera 4S does the same in 4.8 seconds with the same maximum speed, while the king of the hill Panamera Turbo excels with just 4 seconds needed to 100 km/h and a 188 mph (303 km/h). All models are equipped with new Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch gearbox, enabling you to use full automatic and a possibility to switch the gears by using the pedals behind the steering wheel. Today before 75 years, on June 16, 1934 was one of the most important days for the Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche AG, the company who has greatly influenced the auto industry in this and previous century. On that day Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche GmbH received the green light from the Reich to start constructing and building the Volkswagen.  In those hard economic times, designers and experts in auto industry had an idea to build a cheap inexpensive car, affordable for the majority of the people.

On of these experts was Ferdinand Porsche, who has already constructed some compact and small cars destined for several world markets and had a brilliant idea how to solve this current problem and develop a suitable, inexpensive and efficient vehicle. As a result, Volkswagen concept was getting ready and was presented to the Reich Ministry of Transport on 17 January 1934 in his “Study for the Production of a Germany People’s Car”, namely Volkswagen.  At the end of the day, political leaders were already convinced of the quality and efficiency of the Volkswagen concept. So the concept was approved quickly and five months later the Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche GmbH received the order to produce the car.

Three cars were made at the workshop of Ferdinand Porsche’s residence. The First Wolkswagen Prototype  - V1 was presented on 3^rd of July, 1935. The second V2 model was convertible car based on V1 presented on 22^nd of December 1935. After the Volkswagen V3 was made In February 1936, the resistance started to grow in the German Auto Union against the project as it was seen as a serious competitor to the current cars on the market. A further series of 30 prototypes (VW30) was nevertheless built in 1937 by the then Daimler-Benz AG and tested in a large-scale trial covering a total of 2.4 million test kilometers.

Contrary to the idea Volkswagen to be joint venture of German car makers, the Reich Government decided to build separate factory for the new car with the start date marked in the beginning of May 1938 in small town Fallersleben, today Wolfsburg.
