The Mini team has been working on a smaller version of the MINI for some time now. Rumor has it, that the concept should be ready for the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March. Not much information has been revealed yet, but it will probably be a two-seater based on a modified version of an existing front-engine/front-wheel-drive platform with a shorter wheelbase and small-capacity gasoline engine. It would make it a direct competition to Smart ForTwo. Another possibility is that the car will have three seats. It is also expected that it will be a development of an existing concept that first appeared in Geneva in 1997 – a 4-seater known as the MINI Spiritual.

And I don’t just mean the name. The new MINI Minor (affectionately dubbed the MINI Mini) is set to be revealed as a concept car at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show, and to the untrained eye, photos of the Spiritual, an early prototype, look an awful lot like the Smart ForTwo and Toyota iQ cars recently seen buzzing in and out of freeway traffic and taking up half a parking spot. They share the same squished-nose, bubble-car look and sport two doors, a hatchback, and slightly bulging windows (and this is cute…they only require one windshield wiper). So what is so special about the latest offering from Mini and how is it going to edge in on Smart’s toehold on the mini-car market?
For starters, the MINI Minor is made by BMW (prototypes are being assembled at a factory in Munich, Germany as we speak). You may recall the Morris Mini Minor Austin of the 1950s, which looked something like the MINI Coopers of today. And while the Minor of tomorrow shares a few features, the look is altogether more sleek and modern (more round than boxy). Yes, this is a different beast from your Grandpa’s Mini and it may just give Smart cars a run for their money. While the appearance is certainly similar, the MINI may have several features that Smart and Toyota just can’t compete with.

Maybach was founded by the German based Zeppelin Company with a purpose to build aero engines for her parent company. At the time of foundation in 1909 the Maybach name was Aircraft Engine Building Company or in German Luftfahrzeug-Motorenbau GmbH. After 1918 company is changing the name to Maybach Motor building Ltd. or in German – Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH. The name of the parent company was Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH, which mean Airship building Zeppelin Limited. The owner of the parent company was famous Count Ferdinand Von Zeppelin. Now everybody knows what Zeppelin means in the world of the rigid light than air airships. What people do not know is the fact that Zeppelin company was also building a notorious V2 rockets which was successfully used over London and some others English cities.
Maybach was founded by Mr. Wilhelm Maybach and the first manager or director of the company was his son Karl Maybach. The father was a brilliant technical engineer and the son was at the helm of the company. As if the regular Audi R8 with a V10 engine wasn’t enough, Audi is bringing even more powerful, exclusive, stripped down version of R8 with a full name Audi R8 GT. The new bolder Audi R8 is also faster than any of the previous versions.
The limited production Audi R8 GT features the same excellent 5.2-liter V-10 engine but the power has been boosted to a stellar 412kW (560hp); the car has been put on a noticeable diet and has lost about 100kg (220lb). As a result the performance numbers are more than rewarding, Audi R8 GT goes from 0-100km/h (62mph) in just 3.6 seconds and reaches top speed of 320 km/h (199 mph).

One of the biggest automakers GM reported car sales in March in China are 68% higher than in the same month in 2009. According to the GM automotive sales experts, China can consume 2 million GM and GM partners vehicles in 2010. The sales of the GM cars in US in 2009 were 2.1 million vehicles which is only 5% more than the Chinese.
In the next 2-3 years China can become the biggest auto market for many global automotive players. VW is investing more than 2,1bn US dollars (1,6bn Euro) in 2010 and in the next 3 years the total investments in the VW China operations will be 8 billion American dollars. VW goals are to become the world biggest auto producer and to take the primate from Toyota. According to the VW plans this will happen in year 2018. VW will invest more than 28bn American dollars globally for fulfilling these plans.

The manager of the Audi America calls the future owners of the electric cars like Chevrolet Volt idiots because the expensive electric cars cannot return the value of the initial investment try the life span of the electric vehicle. As the second reason he mentioned the dirty electricity made in the coal burning plants which are in abundance in some parts of the USA. For the first time in history of car sales, Audi AG has reported that their sales number worldwide for the first quarter of 2010 has exceeded those of Mercedes Benz. Mercedes has sold 248 500 new vehicles, while Audi scored very well on the market and sold as much as 264 100 new vehicles, which is 25.9 % increase in sales from the last year sales in the same period (Q1 2009).
