When I first took home my trusty Ford Fiesta, I was overwhelmed by the amount of technology at my fingertips – sat nav, reversing sensors, MP3/iPod connectivity, onboard trip computer – the list was endless. To be honest, it all seemed a bit excessive at the start… little did I know it would actually turn me into the world’s worst driver.

It all started when my beloved Ford Fiesta had to go the dealership for a service and MOT and I was forced to drive a courtesy car for two days. The hire car was lovely but not quite up to the usual spec I’ve grown accustomed to. Never mind, its only 2 day right? WRONG. From the minute I pulled out of the forecourt, I suddenly turned into Maureen Rees from Driving School… all because I was without my technology.

It began with the ringing of my mobile phone… oh, err, no Bluetooth Car Kit. I finally pull over to answer the call and I’m asked by my boss to nip round to a client’s office to pick up some papers. What’s the postcode? Oh err, no sat nav… time to buy a map. When I did eventually find my way to the client’s offices (after several wrong turns), parallel parking without the assistance of my beloved parking sensors was a nightmare. I’ve come to rely on the sensors so much that I’ve actually forgotten how to park on my own – how bad is that? I feel ashamed. And I’m not even in the office yet!

For two days I became Britain’s worse driver, making several wrong turns, pulling over constantly to answer my phone, wasting petrol and driving like a crazed lunatic – all because I didn’t have my trusty technology guiding me along the way. When I finally got back my Ford Fiesta, I actually kissed it I’d missed it that much.

So, what’s the moral of this story? Either 1) NEVER accept a car without parking sensors, sat nav or onboard trip computer. 2) Invest in a portable sat nav with Bluetooth and voice commands – it’s a life saver. 3) Learn to live without your technology – it is possible apparently? Or 4) Realise you need to get a life and get back to driving school… oh the shame!

Ford F-150 SVT Raptor R Getting Bigger More Powerful

Starting from this winter Ford launch a new truck on the market from the F 150 family, specially designed for extreme off-road drive named Raptor offered in SuperCab version with 5,4l 3-valve V8 FFV and 6,2L 2-valve V8 engines.
Raptor is specialized for “surviving” in desert or in not a very friendly environment with different types of terrain: holes, washboards, dunes, rocks, roots and all of them mix together. Many trucks can go through this kind of terrain but none of them can do it so comfortably and quickly as the Raptor can.

Developing the more spacious version of the SuperCab Raptor is confirmed from Ford inside line reports. Production of the new SuperCrew Raptor, with four doors will start from 2011.

After many years of intensive testing of the Raptor concept, and many modifications from the basic F150 model, finally it is hard to find something wrong with it. The only wish is for more power, so from Ford this year will be offered dual VVT 6,2L V8 engine which produces 411 hp and 434 pound-feet of torque. On the beginning of the production, this engine will be the only option for the new SuperCrew.

The coming 6,2L Raptor will have starting price around $42,000, few grand more that 5,4L Raptor which cost $38,995, including destination charges.

It can go 18 miles in the city (two miles more than the older 2010 model) with one gallon, or 25 miles on the highway instead 24 like the older 2010 model.

The price for the new 2011 Ford Mustang Convertible in premium trim with V6 engine will cost $31,695, but if you like to add six-speed automatic transmission, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, navigation system, backup camera and some other comfort equipment, you will need to say goodbye to 38,260 US dollars.

The basic Mustang GT with a V8 5.0 engine and 412 hp, matched with six speed manual gearbox is going on sale with a $30,495 price tag. If you like to add a Brembo brake package so you can stop just when you like to do it, you will pay almost 33,000 US dollars for these famous brakes which are also used for the race cars.

New Ford Super Duty F-series 2011 which we were waiting impatiently is going to set new standards in this segment. The new developed technology suites “Ford Work Solution” which feature four unique technologies having operators and business owners in mind.

The first one is in dash computer which was developed in a joint effort with Magneti Mareli and it uses Microsoft Auto as an operating system. The whole system has a high speed internet access via Sprint Mobile Broadband GSM network and for the navigation has a built in Garmin GPS. This is first ever produced dash in computer capable for a broadband connection. With this mobile computer system the operators and owners of New Ford Super Duty F-series 2011 can have a mobile office and can print invoices, connect with the main office, check inventories and access all necessary documents and other data while they are in the field on the job sites.

Second unique technology is the Tool Link with RFID tracking. The new engine will be mated with heavy duty Torqshift six-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to an advanced dual-stage internal filter system the service interval of this new transmission system is going to be 150,000 miles which will lower the cost of ownership.

For the clients who prefer diesel, Ford developed an all new 6.7 liter power stroke turbocharged diesel. The engine is all new designed and it was developed by the code name Scorpion. This B20 (biodiesel) compatible engine will deliver best in class torque and horse power. The HP is 390 and the torque is 735 lb-ft at 1600 rpm. The new 6.7 liter power stroke turbocharged diesel engine is stronger than the previous Navistar diesel by 40 hp, has better fuel economy (best in class) and dye to the simpler servicing will save a money and time to the owners. The servicing of the turbocharger, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), high-pressure fuel pump and cooler can be made without removing the cabin. Torqshift six-speed automatic transmission will also be used for this diesel engine too.

2011 Super Duty will remain the towing and payload champion. F-550 chassis cab can tow 26,400 pounds and will have 6,520 pounds of payload capacity. F-250 and F-350 also have best-in-class towing and payload capacity. F-250 single-rear-wheel model can tow up to 14,000 pounds and haul payloads as large as 4,050 pounds and F-350 have same towing capacity and a payload of 4,600 pounds.

The Ford Mustang of 1965 was first unveiled to American citizens April 17th 1964, it was the start of now famous cars history, and it clicked right off the bat. Before the end of the year more than half a million were sold with precedent-setting sales for the Ford Motoring Company. Mustang’s appeal was its adaptability to cater to everyone. It’s classic style (middle-class mini-luxury vehicle) represented an economical six-cylinder car that took an attitude of a performance sports car for the young crowd.

The 1965 Ford Mustang was first described as a sports car (what was one of Ford’s first medium-sized cars), starting as a former Ford Falcon. More loosely it was the suspension and the chassis that came from the Falcon and Fairlane. The 1965 Ford Mustangs history is different from any other Ford manufactured car because:

1. It broke every sales and production record of Ford cars as well as other number in that year.

2. The car earned the honour of the Gold Tiffany Medal was the first American car to do so.

3. Mustang was Car of the Year in 1974 and 1994 courtesy of motor trend.

4. Mustang in 5 non-consecutive years was on the Car & Driver Best Ten List.

That appeared shortly after the 1964 Ford Mustang, which was selected as pace car for the Indianapolis 500 in 1964. That same year, Ford Mustang when taking part in the Tour De France international rally, won the 1st and 2nd place. It was a drag racing debut in the 1965 competition sponsored by the dealer. Five of the 1965 Mustangs (driven by the 427 V8s) were entered in the National Hot Rod Association Experimental Class and then went on to get qualification for the Factory Stock Eliminator Class. The driver that won was Bill Lawton.

The road race was another sport that the 1965 was superior at. GT 350 R (racing version of the Shelby GT 350) was an astonishing car, of the six Sports Car Club divisions in the United States in 1965 the Shelby won five. There were many variations of the 1965 Ford Mustangs history but there can be no doubt it was a winner illuminating the skyline of the American motor scene.
