BMW’s Front Wheel Drive Ambitions Leading to Twelve New Models
BMW manufacturer is known for making bold choices when it comes to inventions. This time, they are prepared to launch new models based on the UKL platform and are sure it will be a blast. The risk first paid off when they started selling SUV alongside sedans. This time, they hope, they will also succeed with the front wheel drive vehicles, even though there might be onrush of vehicles operating on front-wheel drive.
One of the many benefits from the UKL platform is that it will enable the car engineers to develop a variety of products simultaneously. Up to 12 models are expected to be on the roads in the following 8-10 years. Some of them we are already familiar with are MINI Cooper/ Cooper five-door, BMW 1-Series GT etc., but according to Klaus Draeger, BMW’s head of purchasing, the company might launch a small SUV, a larger hatchback and even a front-wheel hatchback.
