The BMW M1 Hommage concept saw the light of day at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in 2008 and the new M1 descendant have awakened expectations with the public. Word on the street is the new Supercar will finally be born in 2016.
The offspring of the M1 model will be given the name M8 and is a celebration of the company’s 100th anniversary. Not much has been revealed, but rumors are it will have the same aluminum and carbon fiber construction of the i8, only slightly modified; all this in order to reduce the vehicle’s weight.
The supercar is expected to produce 600 hp (447 kW), but other performance features are still under a veil of mystery.
