A Short History of the Ford Motor Company

The Ford Motor Company was founded by Henry Ford in 1903. It is the second largest automobile manufacturing in the country and the fifth in the world, behind Volkswagen, GM, and Toyota. The Ford Motor Company is located outside Detroit, Michigan in a town called Dearborn. The Ford Company oversees production for more than just the Ford brand of vehicles. Some of the brands that have fallen or currently fall under the aegis of the Ford Motor Company are Lincoln, Mercury, Land Rover, Jaguar, and Volvo. Ford also controls portions of Mazda and Aston Martin. Despite the many setbacks the automobile industry has faced over the last several years, Ford has been granted impressive acclaim from J.D. Power & Associates.

Thorough Lab Tests Don’t Lie: John Deere 8295R Appointed As the Most Fuel-Efficient Vehicle

Have you ever wondered which tractor is the most fuel – efficient out of the vehicles offered on the market? Well, you can stop now, as the Farm Industry News has recently announced the winner of the top 40 countdown to the most fuel-efficient tractor of the last 10 years: the John Deere 8295R.
The magazine has prepared the list of the most powerful, yet fuel – efficient tractors with the support of Nebraska Tractor Test lab. All the ratings have been based on the PTO test at rated engine speed. The data was gathered from all the test results obtained within the past decade.
Since the day all the tractor manufacturers announced how they are going to follow the EPA’s new clean air standards, the so-called Big 3 – John Deere, AGCO and CNH have been competing to produce the best tractor on fuel. AGCO, Case IH and New Holland has gone for the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, as the best way to comply with the Tier 4i emissions standards and still handle fuel economy. Deere, however, is more likely to use the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology for the same reasons.

Mercedes Eliminates Maybach Brand

Ever since the resuscitation of Daimler AG’s Maybach brand of ultra-luxury car nearly a decade ago, sales have dwindled and profits have been slim, which has forced the company to announce their intention to discontinue it. Instead of searching any longer for a profitable fix for this problem, they have turned to expanding their S-Class Mercedes-Benz from three to six variations, set to launch in 2013, which sounds the death knell for the Maybach.

This decision was revealed to the German press after the company’s chief executive in Stuttgart was interviewed about the ways they intend to increase sales for the S-Class luxury models, which the Maybach was unable to do almost immediately after it was brought back. Fewer than 200 models were purchased last year, despite lavishness and six digit starting price. Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche spoke about the stronger sales chances available to the Mercedes-Benz than those of the Maybach.
