2012 Suzuki Swift – The Model of The Future

Good news for all the Suzuki fans: the company is going to start the production of the upgraded version of its previous-generation Swift Sport soon, which clearly indicates that a replacement for the latest model is scheduled to be released on market in early 2012.

There are also some rumors that a three-door version of the fourth-generation Swift five-door that is available for sale in Australia from the beginning of 2011 is sure to be produced also in right-hand drive guise this time. This, however, puts a question mark over the remaining demand for Suzuki’s three-door Swift as the Suzuki’s Australian branch might not be able to develop a successful business case for that model. And if it does, the three-door body derivatives are likely to be available only in range-topping Swift Sport guise, as it could be previewed by the Swift S-Concept at the Geneva motor show held in March.

One way or the other, the new AZ-series Swift Sport will be released with a larger 1.6 litre four-cylinder petrol engine, able to deliver 100kW – 8kW more compared to the previous 92 kW 1.6-litre Swift Sport and as much as 30 kW compared to the standard 70 kW 1.4-litre Swift. The model will be equipped with manual and automatic transmission. Moreover, just to take full advantage of the low sales volume, the new Suzuki model is going to come in two or three-pedal-versions. The first three-door version of the AZ Swift was equipped with an enormous black mesh grille, bi-Xenon headlights, four side air scoops, sportier side skirts, the oversized tailgate spoiler plus a large lower diffuser that features twin chromed exhaust outlets. As for the interiors, the yellow S-Concept’s cabin combines black leather Recaro sports bucket seats with yellow side bolstering, three leather and chrome-clad multi-function steering wheel and a number of chromed interior highlights which also include pedal covers and instrument dials.

According to Toshihiro Suzuki, the global marketing director of Suzuki Motor Corporation, the Swift S- Concept finds a perfect balance between practicality and sportiness and he hopes the release of the new model will give all the Suzuki fans a sense of the new Swift’s great possibilities.
