2011 Mazda CX-9 Review, Test, Price, Engines
July 23, 2010 – 9:10 amA new Mazda CX9 SUV provides enough room with comfortable space for six. Shaped with flat screen angle, rising belt line, and large fenders this SUV makes his point of being both powerful and great in quality. The front has silver-look edged headlamps that wrap into the fenders, the rear five-point rear window and a large bumper giving it strength and stability. Sport becomes part of its specification with a roof spoiler, 2o-inch aluminum alloy wheels, and dual trapezoidal exhaust pipes. Adding sense to the details is the chrome on the front and silver-look moldings for the lamps.
Apart from looking like sports SUV, the interior is used in its full sense. 5,089 mm in length, 1,728 mm height and 1,936 mm in width; wood-like establishment decorates both ends of the dashboard and the center console. Leather seats stitched in high-quality for firmness and durability. The list of features goes on – security alarm privacy windows, front and back power windows, adjustable heated seats with driver’s seat memory, 277 W audio system with 10 speakers along with Centerpoint® surround system AudioPilot® noise compensation, auto light system, rain sensor, advanced keyless entry and system to unlock all four doors. Driving tolerates minimum distractions with telescopically adjustable steering wheel, which has audio and cruise control. The back seats can be easily folded to create a large loading space.
Under the hood, MZI 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine powers the Mazda CX9 with 204 kW/273 HP (SAE-NET) giving it maximum power at 6,250 rpm, and a robust 366 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. Engine vibration is reduced with highly rigid cylinder block, transmission vibration with the side mounted on the engine mounts, and the forged-steel crankshaft with dual-mass damper smooths the driving. Optimal balance of acceleration and comfort is provided with six automatic transmission with manual shift mode. Powerful cruising speed is achieved with broad gear ratios, while the top two gears are overdrive, thus helping in saving fuel when driving on the highway.
Mazda CX9 counts as one of the safest SUVs. Featuring seating position for great visibility, ventilated disc brakes (320 mm and 325 mm) combined with roll stability control (RSC), ABS, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), emergency brake assist (EBA) and DSC (depending on market and grade). Passengers are protected with front, side and three- row curtain airbags, three-point seat belts with pretensioners and load-limiters for the front seats, a collapsible brake pedal and front head restraints to reduce possible neck injuries during a rear impact.
