The 10 coolest movie cars of all-time
May 14, 2010 – 3:42 pmCool cars can make a movie. It’s a proven fact that even bad movies can be bolstered by a cool car (just look at the car featured in the Dukes of Hazzard, General Lee). They can attract hot girls, make other men admire you and even allow you to travel back and forth in time.
In compiling this list we’ve taken into account some of the elements that seem to make a car cool. In some way, shape or form each of the following cars has an awesome design, a prestigious manufacturer, a super-cool owner, incredible powers or all of the above.

10. Bumblebee from Transformers
A bright yellow Chevrolet Camaro that turns into a heroic autobot to save your life time and time again is definitely cool in our book.

9. Ferrari 250 GT from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
This incredibly rare car was destroyed in the film, but thankfully no real Ferrari 250 GT were harmed in the making of it as they used a replica. However this is not a car that’s likely to get you cheap car insurance as in 2008, it sold for a whopping $10,976,000 .

8. The Tumbler/Batmobile from the new Batman films
This amazing creation from the latest Batman films was designed to look like a cross between a Lamborghini and a tank, and can travel incredibly fast thanks to its jet engine.

7. Gran Torino from Starsky and Hutch
This popular red Ford was one of the main stars in the long running Starsky and Hutch films and makes it onto this list thanks to the 2004 film.

6. 1955 Chevrolet from American Graffiti
This sunshine yellow Chevy from the mid fifties is instantly recognisable from the film which kick-started George Lucas’ career: American Graffiti. With an engine exposed for all to see and a 30’s inspired design, this is a truly cool car.

5. Ford Mustang from Bullitt
Driving one of these 1958 beauties could make you look (nearly) as cool as Steve McQueen. McQueen did most of the driving himself in the legendary car chase scene, which was groundbreaking for the time.

4. Austin Mini Cooper from the Italian Job
The red, white and blue getaway vehicles used in the Italian Job helped Mini’s go from popular to iconic. Cool cars for one hell of a cool film.

3. Aston Martin DB5 from several James Bond films
This classic British car has some unbelievably cool features, like a smoke screen, revolving license plates and an ejector seat.

2. Herbie from the self-titled film series
Known around the world as the little VW with big personality, Herbie has featured in no less than six films. With a mind of its own, Herbie is capable of driving himself. Impressive stuff.

1. The De Lorean from the Back to the Future trilogy
Topping our list is the one and only De Lorean. Possibly not the best looking of all the cars on this list, it does have one distinct advantage in that it can travel through time. Now that is cool.
