Ford Start Tiny Concept Car for Chinese Market
April 24, 2010 – 2:50 amFord Start micro-concept is revealed for a first time at the Beijing auto show in China.
Ford Start is the micro hatchback, with a size of Ford Ka and if developed, will not going to be sold in USA, but it is going to be for the global market in Europe and Asia.
Ford Start is planned with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder direct-injection, turbocharged Eco Boost engine which will be the first ever build three-cylinder engine in China, where this model is going to be build.
This concept is just a part of the bigger effort of Ford to get a bigger market share in China’s auto market because now Ford Motors presence accounts only 2%. That is the reason why Ford Start is going to be not only small, but also very simple car.
The three-cylinder Eco Boost engine, which was first introduced in 2009, delivers 100 horse power per liter with a better fuel economy. With this engine Ford Motor is going to be a competition to the larger 4-cilinder engines.
